The SMLW is a three-day, advanced skill camp held outdoors on two sand courts and two grass courts. The camp is divided into four groups: setters, middles, liberos, and wing hitters, with a dedicated coach for each group. On the first day, each group will receive three hours of positional instruction separately. On the second day, the setters will work with the other three groups in various combinations. On the final day, the players will break up into groups of three, with one player from each position joining the other three positions to form two teams of six on each of the four courts. The camp is designed to focus on the application of skills rather than the basics, and participants will have the opportunity to work with and learn from experienced coaches. |

This summer, the academy is offering for the first time, the Making the Cut Outdoor Camp, which focuses on training volleyball skills on both grass and sand courts. The camp runs for four days, from Monday to Thursday, for three hours each day, from 1-4 pm. The camp is open to students in grades 4-12 in the upcoming 2023-2024 school year, with four age groups: grades 4-6, 6-8, 9-10, and 11-12. The camp will take place on the beach and grass courts behind Father Robinson School, and each participant will receive a beach camp shirt as part of the price. The focus of the camp is to improve agility, strength, and speed, and teach athletes to move quickly and efficiently on different surfaces. Participants will learn basic skills appropriate for their skill level, and will also have the opportunity to play a game similar to the Royalty of the Courts games. Beach and grass training is popular in countries with lots of sun and beaches, and this camp will provide athletes with the opportunity to train in a similar way here in Saskatchewan. The camp has limited spots, with only 18 available per age group, so interested athletes should sign up early to secure their spot. The academy notes that training on sand and grass courts can be beneficial for indoor play, as it helps athletes learn to adapt to different surfaces and improves their balance and positioning. |

We started a second week of this camp as the first week was sold out a month ago, If you are planning to attend, don't wait, as the second week is also filling up quickly. This is a camp not to be missed.
Making the school team requires a combination of skills, drive, and awareness of what it takes to succeed. Athletes who possess a strong work ethic, a good attitude, and a willingness to learn and improve their skills will be highly valued by coaches. The four-day cycle offered by the Canadian Elite Academy provides athletes with an opportunity to develop their skills, build their endurance, and prepare for tryouts. With three sessions per day, athletes will have the chance to work on their skills during morning, afternoon, and evening sessions, ensuring that they are thoroughly prepared for tryouts. The registration includes a camp t-shirt. This provides athletes with a memento of their time at the academy and serves as a reminder of the hard work and dedication that they put into preparing for their school team tryouts. Overall, the four-day cycle offered by the Canadian Elite Academy appears to be an excellent opportunity for athletes to hone their skills, build their endurance, and prepare for Junior or Senior High School team tryouts. |

We'll cover any costs incurred and offer a free private lesson with me, Darren Cannell, as a token of our appreciation. If you're interested in helping out this month, please let us know. Thank you! |
