Christmas Merch Give-Away ContestWe are nearing the end of the year, and we want to take the opportunity to thank all the athletes who have helped make 2022 a success. This year has been a challenge for everyone, but I would have found it much more difficult without the time I was able to get into the gym. Thank you all for sharing your children's gift, and I feel lucky to have been given a chance to help in their volleyball growth. My hope is that we will move towards "normal" in the new year and have more of our 33 coaches in the sessions as we have in the past. To show our appreciation for your interest in the Academy, we are hosting a contest with over four hundred dollars in merchandise as prices. More about this at the end of the newsletter. |

Upcoming SessionsThe Senior High School Mini Volleyball Camp is for all those senior high school players moving on to the club season. It is a chance to gain some needed volleyball touches and skill training before the season starts. It is seven hours spread over three days and will follow a similar format as the other two mini-camps from the last couple of weeks. High School season end this weekend with provincials, and we move into club season. (Congrats to both St Joesph and Holy Cross girls High School teams who made the final in Provincials, it is so nice to have seen a lot of you at the academy sessions. It makes it more fun to watch on the stream when you know some of the players). This camp is an excellent way to make the transition. Register today! |

Nothing is better for your Volleyball GameThe December Jump Training is an excellent introduction for athletes who have never done it before. It is only for three days. The Popular Serving SessionOn December the 2nd, we are offering the ever-popular serving session. It is a chance to work on getting the serve over the net and improving your serve. It will also introduce the jump serve to those who are at that stage of their serving journey. Hope to see you during this session. |

The Mental Part of the GameThe Mental aspect of the game is the most ignored. Still, it is also the most significant difference in a player's journey to success. A player who starts this at a young age can apply it to most aspects of their lives, not only volleyball. This is a two-hour session designed by Dr. Darren Cannell with sport psychology; his experience of coaching and playing at all levels condensed into a classroom session. You will need to bring a phone, laptop or iPad and a pillow to this session. The session is not so dull that the athletes will fall asleep. The pillow teaches anxious athletes how to sleep the night before a big game or just a lesson on learning to relax. Think about attending this session; you will learn a lot about yourself. This session is open to players, coaches and parents. . |

Hitting HarderOn December the 9th, we are offering the second most popular session on hitting. This will help the athletes work on their spiking and learning to hit harder

Christmas GiveawayAs said at the top of this newsletter, we will be explaining our Christmas giveaway. The Academy advertising is done via word of mouth. This contest will help in that endeavour and put some very cool merch into the hands of some creative people on our mailing list. This contest will be looking for the best video about the Academy. Players, parents, friends, or anyone with a volleyball heartbeat must create a video about the Academy to enter the contest. The video must be 15 seconds to 5 minutes long and contain a single person or many people. The rules are as follows, the videos will be shared with the academy volleyball community, so they must be rated for all ages. The music, people, images, the soundtrack must be royalty-free. The video can be posted on any social media. Then an email must be sent to Academy to tell us where to find it. It can also be sent or shared directly to the Academy. Show us your creative side, remember I was an art teacher for many years so I will be one of the judges and will be looking for the artistic video. |

Volleyball Christmas Present Thinking about buying a volleyball for the players in your family, you might have been shocked at the prices. The Academy does try to purchase volleyball when they are found cheaper than you will get. The balls I have are what Volleyball Canada suggests for the different age groups. I have included the VC chart below and the three balls I am selling in the Academy store. If you decide to purchase a ball, we do not mail them. You will have to pick it up from a session or during a session. If you find a reasonable price on the suggested volleyballs, let me know as I am always looking. |
