Youth Volleyball Program

The Canadian Elite Academy believes that not enough athletes play their sport in a fun, non-competitive situation.  In response to this belief, the academy would like to propose a solution within the Elementary schools in Saskatoon.
  • For the night to be successful it needs to be free for the participants.
  • Use high school Senior Volleyball players as supervisors and instructors (Christian Ethics Hours)
  • Target the grade 6-8 students in the Elementary Schools (Friday Nights 4-6 pm)
  • Each Elementary school will have 2-4 nights in the school year.
  • The informal games will be two hours ( 15 minutes setup and warm-up, 15-20 minutes skill instruction, gameplay, 10 minutes warm down and cleanup.)
  • The St. Joseph high school or Holy Cross feeder Elementary Schools would be the pilot program for the first year.

Tuesday and Thursday 2-4pm Father Robinson School
See ya all there.  Petey, our dog will be in attendance this week.

If you want your t-shirt to fit...Friday is an important day.

Friday, July 26th, 2019

Why is this day so important for the Making the Cut Camp you say?
Every athlete who attends the camp will be given a shirt.

Friday is when I will be putting in the order for the t-shirt sizes.  When you register for the camp you give me your shirt size and I will make sure you have a shirt that will fit you.  After Friday I will order some sizes that I hope will fit that athlete who registers after the date.  If my crystal ball is working then you will have a shirt that will fit you, it is not I cannot guarantee the shirt will fit.

REGISTER NOW and your shirt will fit.

Volleyball Nations League 2020

August of 2020 is the Olympics.  The Volleyball Nations League in 2020 will be used by all teams as a warm-up for the Olympics.  I have heard via the grapevine that we will be hosting our Canadian Men's team and three other teams in Ottawa in June on the 5-7th weekend.  The Canadian Elite Academy has been tossing around the idea of taking a group of 12-15 athletes to Ottawa on this weekend to see these games.  The games happen on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night.  The format is a mini round-robin between the four teams, I have been lucky enough to see this event for the last two years and as I watched the games live, I was so impressed and thought the whole time that this would be so cool for aspiring volleyball players to see.  The fact that it is only two months away from the Olympics means all countries are going to be using the Nations League as a method of training for the Olympics and will bring the best players in the world to the event.  I will be going and taking my Son and thought I would open an invitation to the first 12-15 athletes who would like to attend.  The particulars such as where do we stay, how do we travel, what will we do when we get there will all be finalized when the group of travelers has been decided.
The event is held at the Arena at TD place at Landsdowne Park in Ottawa.
Planning to attend

Returning from Mexico

This beach would be a great area to start an Elite Beach Academy.

Our family just returned from Mexico and this was a beach that we had a chance to see.
Think about how many courts we could put on this beach...

This was the same beach that they filmed the movie TROY on.

If I suddenly disappear when the weather in Saskatoon get below -25 degrees, look first on this beach.

The Beach Volleyball Tournament

This past weekend we hosted the first ever Canadian Elite Academy Beach Volleyball tournament on July 6-7 2019.  The boy's tournament ran on Saturday and the girl's tournament was on Sunday.  Both days were perfect beach weather.  The girls worked at the boy's tournament and the boys worked at the girl's tournament.  Overall it was highly successful and congrats to Michele our coach and all the players who wore the Elite academy beach uniforms and represented the academy well.

The boy's tournament started with a round-robin.

And ended with a double knockout after the teams were seeded.

All day long the parents ran a concession and fun was had by all.

Then Sunday two age classes of girls played a round robin.

Then two double knockouts.

Congrats to all involved athletes, coaches, and parents.
