New Month Right Around the Corner

September is Right Around the Corner.

A Great Four Days

The Making the Cut camp was so fun for me, and I hope it was the same for my coaches and the involved athletes. This group was so positive, energetic and put effort into all the challenges that I was sad to see the camp come to an end.    The feedback was positive of the 12 feedback; 10 athletes gave 5 stars, 2 athletes gave 4 stars. Thank you to all the parents and guardians for sharing your athletes with the Academy.

  • My daughter's coach at the Making the Cut Camp, was absolutely amazing!  Chie had all participants moving at all times, with so many touches, and she never stopped working with them.  Even though the games, she would be encouraging them and giving them constructive criticism in order to improve.  Chie started at the level all kids were at and moved onto the next level when they were ready instead of just jumping into a game, day one.  My daughter learned so much, and I am so thankful Chie was her coach!
  • Was my daughter's first time playing volleyball, and she had an AMAZING experience! Thank you
  • Well organized and efficient. My daughter loved it. Fun and challenging.
  • Excellent camp and Great communication
  • Positive and constructive feedback to the athletes. Highly recommended.
  • Thanks, Darren and coaches, for another great camp!!

The new month is on the way.  This month will be interesting as School, and school volleyball gets started.

The School day Academy is a twice-a-week Volleybal skill training session with a weekly Friday gameplay session. This month-long session is broken into a basic group and an advanced group. The suggestion is new or relatively new athletes to volleyball should attend the basic session. In contrast, more experienced athletes should attend the advanced.

The Academy understands that busy September and October schedules will make it difficult to attend if you make a school team or play another sport. Adding flexibility to the night the athletes can attend will make it easier for athletes to work around the School's volleyball practise times and games.
The flexibility will be simple.
The basic skill sessions are Monday and Wednesday, 5-6 pm, and games will be 5-6 pm Friday. The advanced sessions are Tuesday and Thursday, 5-6 pm, and games will be 5-6 pm on Friday.

The flexibility for September will be that athletes can attend any day that fits into their schedule. For example, if athletes who registered for the basic sessions find that they can only participate on Monday and Tuesday in the first week, they can.All athletes who register for either the basic or advanced can attend any two days between Monday and Thursday. The gamedays only happen on Friday from 5-6, so there is no flexibility there.

The best use of an hour for Volleyball Players

The jump training happens right after the School Day skills training session on Monday and Wednesday for the basic from 6-7 pm. The Tuesday and Thursday for the advanced from 6-7 pm. The same flexibility will be applied to these sessions. You can attend any two sessions each week that fits into your busy practise and game schedule in school volleyball.

Refund for September.

The Academy will refund any sessions that athletes will not be able to attend due to conflicts, which removes the concern about school volleyball schedules that are different in each School and different each week.Participating in any two of the four skill day sessions each week should allow athletes to make more of them.If an athlete has a hectic week and can only attend one session in a week, the athlete can attend three sessions the following week.Flexibility is the goal, and we are open to suggestions.

The September-October Thursday Skill Sessions

The other sessions are the September- October Skills sessions; we are offering training in Passing, Setting, Blocking, Digging, Hitting, Serving. The flexibility built into these sessions is that you can sign up for all six or each of the sessions individually as you find out your school volleyball schedule.

The Academy is here to help.

We hope the Academy can help fit some of your volleyball training skills in September, and we look forward to seeing you on the court.

Every year at the Making the Cut camp, we get the athletes to complete an electronic daily athlete's journal survey. The journal survey collects data about the athlete's view of volleyball and life. Here is a little glimpse into what we found.
